TECHNICAL INFORMATION
What is a Bio Fertilizer?
A Bio fertilizer (also bio-fertilizer) is a substance which contains living microorganisms which, when applied to seed, plant surfaces, or soil, colonizes the rhizosphere or the interior of the plant and promotes growth by increasing the supply or availability of primary nutrients to the host plant.
Bio-fertilizers add nutrients through the natural processes of nitrogen fixation, solubilizing phosphorus, and stimulating plant growth through the synthesis of growth-promoting substances.
Bio-fertilizers can be expected to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The microorganisms in bio-fertilizers restore the soil's natural nutrient cycle and build soil organic matter. Through the use of bio-fertilizers, healthy plants can be grown, while enhancing the sustainability and the health of the soil.

General Information
Average Requirements per Hectare (1 hectare is equivalent to 2.47 acres)
Annual Plants—10 Litres per hectare (over growing season)
Perennial Plants—10—20 Litres per hectare (over growing season)
Increase Sunland treatment for very poor quality soil
Note:
1. Please mix Sunland solution fresh and do not leave the premixed solution for long periods
2. Do not spray plants during the pollination phase
3. Spray or drench the roots before or after transplanting.
4. After preparing the soil, but before planting, apply any solid fertilizers that is part of your maintenance program, then spray or drench with the Sunland solution. Make sure the soil is damp and not bone dry.
5. When spraying crop out in the field, set pressure so that foliage will be completely covered by the "mist" providing "run off" to the soil underneath at the same time.
6. Spray the field in the morning or evening
7. The goal is to minimize dependency on synthetic fertilizer and to have better yield with less expense using the Sunland bio fertilizer
8. It is realistic to minimize the use of synthetic chemical fertilizers by 50% as you regularly use the Sunland products.
9. Keep in mind that each year your soil quality and soil fertility will improve and provide a higher and better yield with the regular use of the Sunland bio fertilizer.
Please take note that the Aloe Vera Bio Fertilizer have this "sweet smell" that is produced because of the effective action of the beneficial microbes. Therefore, for few hours after application, the area that has been treated will carry this particular smell. Alternatively, use the Aloe Vera Raw Material on a 2/3 parts along with 1/3 of the Aloe Vera Bio Fertilizer mixed together during application to minimize the smell!

Seedling Production
Seeds should be soaked for 2-4 hours before they are planted for germination using a 1:50 Ratio (20mls per 1L of water) This is to be followed by the "drenching" of the growing medium after seeding using a 1:300 Ratio (5mls per 1.5L of water.) Spray seedling beds or trays every week using 1:300 Ratio until they are ready to leave the seedlings or propagation house. Use the Aloe Vera Bio Fertilizer in all application.
Leafy Vegetables
Once the seedlings are planted on the ground, spray or drench crops using the rate of 10 Litres Bio fertilizer plus 5L Raw material for the growing season of each crop per hectare. So if a crop takes 45 days to harvesting, mix 2 Litres concentrate using the amount of water in the tank "calibrated" to cover 1 hectare per run. This means, it is not so much the amount of water used but instead the amount of concentrate per hectare. In other words, if your spray tank carries 600 litres of water, calibrated to cover 1 hectare, then all you have to do is add your 2 litres of Aloe Vera bio fertilizer concentrate. Mix it with 1 Litre of Aloe Vera Raw Material (if available) to help plants develop more resistance to pest and diseases. In addition, growers have observed that with the added "raw material" it also act as deterrent to birds and bats.
Ornamental Plants
Once seedlings have been "uppotted" or planted in beds, drench everything using 1:300 Ratio (5 mls per 1.5 Litres of water) During the growing season, apply the following-
Use 1:200 Ratio (5 mls per 1 Litre of water) for non succulent plants applied every week
Use 1:300 Ratio (5 mls per 1.5 litres of water) for succulent plants applied every week.
Continue weekly application until crops leave the nursery

Potato Production
Soak or drench the potato tubers during preparation time using 1:50 Ratio ( 20 mls per 1 L of water) Perform this for 30 minutes.
The Sunland Organic products can be sprayed on the field while the tubers are being planted or immediately after planting using the 1:100 Ratio ( 10 mls per 1 L of water)
During growing period, spray field every 7-14 days using 1:200 Ratio ( 5 mls per 1 L of water) to the point of "run off" to guarantee complete coverage. MONITOR PLANTS!
Continue maintenance program using the same ratio until flowering time. STOP!
Actual application rates for the whole growing season should be between 15 - 20 Litres per hectare. Do split application between the Aloe Vera Bio Fertilizer & Raw Material or can combine both in the tank for single application.
In the initial use of Sunland Organic products, do a "jar tests" for compatibility if it will be mixed with other products.
Also run a small "test area" to assure that there are no issues with the plants it is being sprayed on.

The Aloe Vera plant is recognized as having a very strong immune system, and is never affected by any pests nor insects. Now growers can utilize the many benefits of Aloe Vera as a foliar and soil spray to offer a natural immune booster, and added protection for their crops.Aloe has the ability to deter insects from plants without the use of toxic sprays. Additionally, many growers have noticed reduced bird and bat attacks on crops. See a response from a fruit grower below.
I have been using 1 L raw material, 1 L aloe fertilizer and 100L water to deter birds etc. with great results even with fruit fly...Regards Les
Points to note regarding our concentrated Aloe Vera Raw material:
- Cold pressed & carefully processed to retain all of the active properties of the whole leaf Aloe Vera plant for full benefits.
- A botanical activator and plant growth promoter which can improve overall plant health including its immune defence, plus suppress pathogenic bacteria.
- Improves microbe multiplication in the soil and on the leaf. This can be further boosted when mixed with the Aloe Vera Fertilizer.
- Contains natural ingredients that promote cell replication (plant growth) with polysaccharides for high absorption of nutrients, Phytochemicals of Aloin, Salicylic Acid and Saponins. These aid with foliar feeding, and balancing the plants health, and are also an excellent fungi food for soil.
- Protective face masks do not need to be used with spraying this product
- Universally beneficial for all types of plants and growing techniques.
Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer & Aloe Vera Raw Material Questions and Answers
Q. Is it possible for growers to initially minimize their synthetic chemicals by 50% with the addition of 50% Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer and then after each year when the yield is improving that the use of synthetic fertilizer could be minimized even further? eg. Reduce by another 10% or 5% per year whilst increasing the amount of Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer eg. 40% synthetic chemicals and 60% Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer and so on?
A. Yes, initially farmers can start to reduce their synthetic fertilizers by 25% and in the future reduce up to 50%. They can then observe the performance and make an evaluation from there. We have already performed tests with 50% synthetic fertilizer with rice with successful results and improvement in yields. Consider the Aloe Bio-Fertilizer as a positive Soil Insurance for the future for your land. So even a 10% introduction of the Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer as a input will assist greatly towards a sustainable future for future generations.
Q. Is it feasible to think that possibly after 5 years that the farming land could be possibly free of synthetic fertilizer residue? With 100% use of Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer?
A. It is achievable that after a couple of years (for domestic farming) and approximately 5 years (for commercial agriculture) that the soil could possibly be free from synthetic fertilizer residue. Sunland Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer will help to achieve this result. However, for commercial farming we also recommend the introduction of a Safe Mineral Fertilizer in addition to compliment the transition period so you will still receive the maximum yields that you would normally expect from using synthetic fertilizers.
Q. Additionally will the benefits of the Aloe Vera Bio- Fertilizer be able to flush out the toxicity of the chemical residue in the soil after a few years of using the Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer. eg. Soil health returning to the way nature intended it? ie. A regeneration of the Soil?
A. It will all depend on what is causing the toxicity (pollution) in the soil, the type of toxins and the level of concentration. If the toxins come from a high concentration of heavy metals.. eg. From chemical pesticides or industrial waste, then it will need a longer period to recover the land however it will be a progressive and positive healing of the soil with the regular application of the Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer. As well, a combination application with mature compost or manure will speed up the recovery / regeneration. This will add additional carbon and humic acid into the soil. The use of compost or solid organic material can also assist greatly to reduce the use of synthetic fertilizer. We also recommend
Q. If applying the Sunland Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer to compost rows as they mature, will it have any negative effect on the already present microbes in the compost. (Will the microbes be compatible?)
A. There will not be any negative effect when Sunland is applied to mature compost because the microbial in Sunland are a common kind of microbial that we can find in the soil naturally. Sunland's microbial mix will be compatible to the compost, and also enrich the compost further for greater benefits.
Q. Is the Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer compatible with all types of synthetic chemical fertilizers? Also, will the toxicity of already synthetically treated soil kill the Aloe Vera Fertilizer's microbes when they cross paths with the synthetic fertilizers? eg. When 50% of each is being used?
A. Sunland microbes will still live and grow in the soil even though the land has been treated by synthetic fertilizer. However DO NOT add Sunland and the synthetic fertilizer with water in the same tank and spray together. The microbes could be damaged and could even die in this instance. You must make the applications separate or mix with a synthetic fertilizer that has a very low concentration level. DO NOT mix with any types of chemical pesticides. (for obvious reasons)
Q. How rapidly do the microbes multiply once it is finally added to the soil? eg. Do they breed and multiply quickly.
A. In suitable soil conditions the microbes can grow and multiply at an optimum pace especially if there is enough humidity, moisture conditions, neutral pH, moderate soil temperature, and no toxic agents in the soil. It is possible to activate the microorganism species further by adding a little molasses into the tank where you mix the Sunland solution (Sunland + water), and wait approximately 4-6 hours before application.
Q. Is the Bio-Fertilizer Starter that is being poured into the 5000 Lt tanks (seen in the 3 min company profile video on the website) the full microbe mix for the Aloe Vera Fertilizer.
A. Yes, Bio-Fertilizer Starter means the mix of functional or beneficial microorganism. It is poured into 5000 lt tank and is mixed with the composted organic Aloe Vera juice, fresh seaweed and natural materials.
Q. I have been advised that a 50/50 combination of your fresh Aloe Vera Raw Material with the Aloe Vera Microbial Fertilizer can make up an effective foliage spray that also performs as a great insect, bird / flying fox deterrent. I was told that this is because of the high natural active Aloe Aloin content. Eg. if you use 1Lts Aloe Bio-Fertilizer with 1 Lt of the Aloe Vera Raw Material at 50:1 or 100:1 (this 2L will make 100L or 200L ) Is this combination really a suitable environmentally friendly insect and pest deterrent to spray on plants for protection?
A. We have many testimonials from farmers that claim to have good results with this and we do have these products available in stock (Concentrated Aloe Vera Raw Material Extract with Aloin, and also our Sunland Bio-Fertilizer) So if any growers would like to experiment by mixing them together to trial as above, then we have an abundance of material available. We have found other claims on the internet that states… "The Aloe Vera plant is recognized as having a very strong immune system. Now growers can utilize these properties for the benefit of their crops to fight against insect attacks. Aloe has the ability to deter insects from plants without the use of toxic sprays. Especially when the Aloe Vera Extract has been carefully processed to retain all of the active properties of the whole plant.". The active ingredient in aloe vera such as aloin has been used as an anti-bacterial and it has been said that its use can also suppress the growth of pathogenic bacteria. The mixture of our Aloe Raw Material with our Aloe Microbial Fertilizer will offer growers an increased performance on a number of levels as a foliar spray. (eg. As a plant growth promoter and also a pest deterrent) When the plant is healthy with " living soil" nourishing its root system and also "natural" pest management (instead of chemical pesticides) then the plants resistance & immune level is high. Most pests are more attracted to low resistance and weaker plants as they are easier targets. Additionally if a healthy plant is subjected to stress from poor weather conditions or pests, then its recovery level is much faster and it can bounce back quickly as its immune system is strong. This is the same as a human being. eg. A person taking chemical prescriptions has a low immune system and will pick up a cold or flu from just a small cough. However a person with a strong immune system (drinks quality Aloe Juice daily) will never, or very rarely get sick. More info regarding Aloe and the plants immune system below…
Hi Saul,
I have been researching the amazing Aloe Vera plant this weekend and I have discovered an amazing array of phytochemicals that are incredibly important to plant health and immune function. As a biological agronomist, I have spoken about these materials as individual products to farmers but never realized that Aloe Vera provide them in one plant. One of the ingredients, salicylic acid (SA) is very important to systemic activated resistance, drought tolerance and salinity. The implication for intensified agriculture and stressed plants is enormous - and this is just one compound. We must talk when you get back. I am very excited about working with this product.
Regards Steve
Q. Do the Microorganisms dry out and die in the soil when there is minimal water? Eg in some cases there are crops in Australia that go for up to 6 months with little or no watering between crops? Will the microbes go deeper in the soil until they find moisture so they can survive and then resurface to go back to work when the crop starts again?
A. Of course the microorganisms will not grow effectively in certain conditions. However the soil microbes usually do adapt to the natural conditions and their environment, so they will survive under those conditions that you mention. An exception would be an extreme condition like in the hot desert
Q. Can the Sunland Aloe Bio-Fertilizer also be used with other organic farming fertilizers that already exist on the market to enhance the performance levels of those products? Or vice versa
A. Yes the freedom and possibilities to enhance the capabilities and benefits of Sunland, by combining it with, (and experimenting with) other ingredients are encouraged. There would be a wide variety of applications in which Sunland (plus additional natural ingredients from other products) can be adapted to different farming needs and local conditions.
Q. Is Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer commodity a 100% organic fertilizer product? Eg. it has no chemicals in it, nor any preservatives so can it be recommended as a suitable organic agricultural input for organic farming? Is there any certification from Indonesia that brands the product as definitely suitable for organic farming?
A. Yes the Sunland Aloe Vera Bio-Fertilizer can be promoted as a 100% organic fertilizer product. Actually the Sunland Certificate from the Indonesian Ministry of Agricultural Department has declared and explained Sunland as "pupuk hayati" which means "Bio Organic Fertilizer." Note: to obtain a final certified organic produce from farms depends not only on the organic fertilizer or nutrient input, but it also depends on the whole process of cultivation and the planting system, and the environmental conditions like pollution from the air, soil and water, etc. So, its not enough just to use a quality organic fertilizer. For more info please search Codex Alimentarius Commission FAO.
