Short Background on Aloe Vera

In ancient times, Aloe Vera were recognized and sought after for its "medicinal values" and "healing qualities".

Aristotle persuaded Alexander the Great to conquer the island of Socotra to secure the aloe grown there for his wounded soldiers. Medical healers of past civilizations prescribed aloe vera for a large variety of illnesses and ailments. In about 1750 BC, Sumerian clay tablets depicted the use of aloe vera for medical purposes. Even earlier, perhaps as early as 4000 BC, drawings of the aloe plant were found on temple walls in the tombs of the Pharaohs. The Egyptians called it the "Plant of Immortality". By 1500 BC, aloe is mentioned in Egypt's Papyrus Embers where formulas containing aloe are described for a variety of illnesses, both external and internal.
By 600 BC, the use of aloe appears in the Persian Empire, then throughout the Arab world and into India. The spread of its usage is undoubtedly attributable to Arab traders who plied their wares through much of the civilized world of their time. Eastern women valued aloe for the "beauty of their skin". Native Americans recognized aloe vera as the "burn plant", "medicine plant", and "the mystery plant".

Today, Aloe Vera is a "major ingredient" in countless of skin and beauty products, health drinks, supplements and medicine. And those of us who have this wonderful plant in our garden is very much aware of its effectivity in easing pains from burns, itchy skin, and a lot of other simple skin problems.

New Zealand Company Profile

Rene Cabamongan received a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture and an Associate Degree in Tropical Agriculture from Brigham Young University - Hawaii Campus, seemingly "eons" ago. His lifelong trip started from his home situated in Manila in the Philippines, was highlighted by a 2 year missionary work within the country, followed with his study in Hawaii. He ended up staying in Hawaii for about 35 years, raising a family with Alina and 4 children - Jason, Rachel, Jenel and Jarem. During his stay, his exciting life took him to learning the process of raising orchids from tissue culture to flowering stage. His next job built his interest in horticultural supplies including growing structures covered in plastic or shade. This was followed by supervising the growing of ornamental plants eventually loaded in ocean and airline containers shipped to California and Alaska. The last job in Hawaii was managing a company that runs a combination garden center, plant nursery, landscaping design and construction.

In 2003, he moved to New Zealand and from then on he has moved to several jobs which have exposed him to the glasshouse industry, the market gardening industry, the orchid and potted plant nursery industry, the dairy farming industry and horticultural supply industry.

His work in the agricultural field have shown him the "complete reliance" of farmers in the use of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. "Prescription farming" has become the standard of the industry wherein farmers and growers are given instruction on what "mainly" chemical products to use in their operation.
